Since 1983, May has been National Fitness and Exercise Month in the U.S. Flush with income tax refunds, millions of people are choosing to invest in their health by way of a new treadmill for their home. The good news is treadmill manufacturers are responding with some of the best deals I’ve seen in a while. I’m a fan of year-round exercise and treadmills are a champ for sure. When cutting for a bodybuilding contest, I rely heavily on treadmills as well as a competition diet which I describe here. Yes, it’s great to get outside and burn those calories, but weather doesn’t always permit this, nor do a lot of jobs. For less money than a gym membership, you could bring all that action indoors.
I spend a lot of time on treadmills, both testing them and using them myself. Whether you’re cutting weight to stave off diabetes, cancer, or just improve your overall health, there’s just no question these machines offer a top-flight alternative to sitting on the couch. You might even check into ways to get your health insurance to pay for this. As you check out the deals I’ve listed below, you’ll notice a lot of these units come with terrific workout apps and built-in programming. Irrespective of your level of conditioning and price range, there’s a machine in here for you. Be sure to check out our Five Point Buyer’s Guide for more information.
Hottest Fitness Month Treadmill Sales For 2024
One of my all-time favorite treadmills to use, the X22i is a Paul Bunyan among treadmills. If you believe that good is great and more is better, this is your prize. With an award-winning 40% incline and -6% decline, as well as a gigantic 22″ high-definition touchscreen, it really does feel like you’re hiking up the Rocky Mountains when you’re using the iFit program. On sale this spring for $2,999, down from $3,499, purchase includes a 30-day trial of iFit, which brings with it automatic trainer control and Bluetooth heart rate training, as well as both live and on-demand workouts by the tens of thousands. Bigger does mean just that. I strongly recommend finding a permanent place for this unit if you buy it. Measuring 70″ x 39″ x 72.5″ at a in-box product weight of 417 pounds, I see why NordicTrack placed a 4.0 CHP motor inside to guarantee a 400-pound user maximum. You can read my full review of this treadmill here.
A perennial fan favorite, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is one of the “Goldilocks” models that fits most people’s needs. Normally $2,299, the unit is now $1,999, with a dynamic 14″ high-definition touchscreen that both pivots and swivels, as well as 12% to -3% incline and decline. Like all NordicTrack products, this unit is iFit-enabled, and brings with it a ton of goodies. It measures 80″ x 38″ x 65″ and sports a 400-pound user weight maximum. I’ve used a NordicTrack Commercial 1750 for years and love it. Read my full review here.
If you’re looking for just a tad smaller unit than a mid-size, I see the NordicTrack Commercial 1250 as one of those go-to units. I actually had this in my own upstairs bedroom and felt no shakes in the rooms downstairs. Not a crack in the plaster. Normally priced at $1,799, you can get it this spring for $1,599, along with a 30-day pass to the iFit program. With a nice 10″ high-definition touchscreen and 12% incline to match the -3% decline, the unit measures 78.5″ x 35.6″ x 64.7″ and supports up to 400 pounds in user weight. Like all iFit-enabled treadmills, you can access live and on-demand workouts, Bluetooth heart rate training, and automatic trainer control. You can read my full review here.
Coming in at the smaller end of the treadmills is the NordicTrack EXP 10i, normally priced at $1,599 is now $1,499. With purchase is a complimentary 30-day iFit package as well. Measuring 70.8″ x 34.9″ x 59.7″ the unit sports both a 10″ high-definition touchscreen, 300-pound user weight maximum, Bluetooth heart rate connectivity and a 2.75 CHP motor. Like all iFit-enabled treadmills, this one comes with automatic trainer control. You can read my full review here.
The Horizon lineup is another great brand, especially for those fitness fans who like to bring their own screen. Down to $999 from an MSRP of $2,100, this unit is frequently on sale from the company, so be sure to check back frequently. Complete with eight built-in workout programs, the Horizon 7.0 AT answers the question, “What if I don’t want to pay for a workout app?” Measuring 76.5″ x 36″ x 59″ with a running deck of 60″ x 20″, I like the fact that’s big enough for heavy running, but it also folds. Equipped with a 3.0 CHP motor and 15% incline, I’ve yet to fail to sweat it up on this machine. Another big plus to this unit is that in addition to the 7.25″ LCD screen, the treadmill also sports a handy tablet-attachment, so you can bring your own device to the game. Another big plus is the lifetime warranty on both the frame and motor. To read my review on the Horizon 7.0 AT see here.
If you’re into the mantra, “Bigger is better,” then the Horizon 7.4 AT is one to check out. Down to $1,599 from $2,399 MSRP, the 7.4 AT measures 76″ x 37″ x 64″ when assembled, but only 42″ x 37″ x 71″ when folded up. It weighs about 318 pounds when in use but can sport up to 375 pounds. Like it’s brand-mates, the 7.4 AT features a 8.5″ LCD screen as well as great tablet-holder, which works for both pads and phones. Equipped with 10 built-in workout programs, you can either rely on those or bring whatever app you want to the workout. The 3.5 CHP motor is not only warrantied for life, but also generates enough power for a 15% incline and speeds up to 12 mph. For my full review of the Horizon 7.4 AT, read here.
The Echelon Stride 6S models are terrific treadmills I greatly value for their durability. Equipped with a 10″ screen, this folding treadmill measures 64.8″ x 32.4″ x 57″ when in use, but still packs a 20.5″ x 60″ deck and 3.0 HP brushless motor. Built to work with the Echelon Fit App, this machine will not disappoint in terms of stability. I’ve been using Echelon products for years and am continually impressed with their parts. Down from $1,899 to $1,399, this machine gives you 12% incline and up to 12.4 mph, with the neatest little resistance dials I’ve ever seen placed on the handlebars. To read my full review of this treadmill, see here.
If you’re into big screens and big power, check out the Echelon Stride 8S and its 22″ high-definition screen and 3.75 CHP motor. Like all Echelon products, this Stride 8S is built to work with the Echelon Fit App, which has a virtual library containing thousands of workout programs. Down to $2,299 from $2,799, the treadmill measures 67.2″ x 32″ x 63″ with a 20″ x 60″ tread deck. This treadmill sports a terrific wireless charging pad as well as heart rate sensors built into the handlebars. The motor powers a 12% incline and up to 12mph in speeds. For my full review, read here.

Engineered with a 3.25 HP motor, the treadmill sports speeds up to 12mph and incline of 12% with a 20″ x 60″ running deck. Heart rate sensors are built into the handlebars and the unit is compatible with Bluetooth monitors as well.
If a walking treadmill is what you seek, the Xterra TRX1400 is on special this month for $699. Measuring 65″ x 30.8″ x 52.4″ at a machine weight 12.5 pounds with a maximum user weight of 265 pounds. With a 18″ x 50″ tread belt and a 2.25 HP, this unit is clearly best for walking. That said, it’s priced right and comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The unit has a 5.2″ screen and 24 preset workout routines. A Bluetooth-enabled unit, it also features heart rate sensors in the handlebars. It also features a terrific media rack for either tablets or smartphones.

Heart rate sensors are built into the handlebars and the machine comes with 24 preset workout programs and a simple LCD screen. Purchase comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor, but just one year for parts, deck, and labor. You can read my full review here.
You’ll never run out of options here. With 30 built-in programs, the Xterra TRX3500 is one of the most loaded up treadmills I’ve seen lately to that end.
